Explore Rhodes Old Town & Port
If you take only one thing away from this post—make sure Rhodes Old Town is on your bucket list!
It is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe and is bursting with history. Among the fortified walls, you will find a vibrant and bustling atmosphere—a mix of local life and tourist features such as trinket shops, enticing bars, and a wide variety of restaurants.
You will find Rhodes port and marina along the coast of the old town. Step out of the lively town for a refreshing walk along the harbour with stunning views of the sparkling ocean. You might even come across one for the famous shell shop boats.

Some History at Lindos
Why not delve into some more of Rhodes’ history by visiting the town of Lindos? Above the former fishing village sits the Acropolis of Lindos. I won’t pretend to know all of the history of this place, and you can discover it on your visit if that interests you. But history aside, it is still such a unique place to explore. You can walk between the town and the Acropolis in your own time, and with any beach town, there are plenty of winding streets, boutique shops, and even cliffside cafes along the way.
A Beautiful Sunset Cruise
Next on this must do activities in Rhodes list is a sunset cruise. Instead of enjoying the beautiful sea views from land, why not head out on a boat to get some stunning views of the island?
There are many tours to choose from, and most include traditional Greek food and drink to enhance the experience.
Symi Island Day Trip
Another boat trip to enjoy on your Rhodes holiday is a day trip to Symi. Now, I know this technically isn’t something to do in Rhodes, but it is still an essential addition to this list. Symi Island looks like something out of a postcard, with its pastel-coloured buildings lining the hillsides. It was also a great spot for lunch with yummy food to enjoy in the sun.
You can check out the boat trip I took HERE on my last visit which also included a stop on the other side of the island at Saint George Bay. I swam in the crystal clear waters here, making this a perfect day trip.

Evening Shopping in Ialysos
A popular holiday spot in Rhodes is Ialysos, with many hotels and Airbnbs available in this area. If you are staying here or nearby, you should head out in the evening for a stroll and some shopping. I really enjoy the array of shops here, from your usual souvenir shops to nicer jewellery stores. The Cake Box is also a favourite of mine for a sweet treat.
Please make sure to double check the location or pick up options before booking any tours!
Best Beach Day
My final suggestion is to soak up and enjoy the beaches Rhodes has to offer. As a major beach lover, I’m happy on any beach, but some of Rhodes’ most popular are:
Lindos Beach – Perfect for combining history and sunbathing.
Tsambika Beach – Great for families, with shallow, calm water for little ones and a waterpark obstacle course (Bloom Waterpark Watersports Rhodes) for bigger kids.
Faliraki Beach – A long stretch of golden sand, great amenities, and a lively nightlife scene once the sun sets.

Rhodes truly has a little bit of everything—ancient ruins, postcard-perfect beaches, and unforgettable sunsets. I hope this must do activities in Rhodes list helps you fall in love with the island just like I did.
